Happy Halloween with Leaky Shed | Half shed plans free

Happy Halloween with Leaky Shed

I love Halloween paper crafting...its my favorite time of year to create with paper.  I love the colors, patterns and all of the awesome embellishments!  Its just the simply the best!
I love the Leaky Shed Picket Fence, its awesome as a border or to cut up and used for cards.  I still had a piece left from another card I created for Leaky Shed and I knew it would be the perfect embellishment for my spooky little treat bag.  It was the finishing touch I was looking for with my Haunted House, it just really sets it off.
I added just a bit of Vintage Photo Distress Ink to it and then adhered it to the bag!

Wishing you all a Happy Halloween Paper Crafting Season!

Happy New Year from the Shed the latest in my Frostgrave project | Wooden shed plans free download

Happy New Year from the Shed the latest in my Frostgrave project

Hi Folks

A belated Happy New Year from the Shed. Hope you all had a great Christmas and some time off with your loved ones.

For my sins mine was sadly game free.

Mrs Shed somehow managed to book every day I wanted to play with relatives etc...and I still havent been to see the new Star Wars film yet !!

However she was very nice to me this year and under the tree was a big fat Xbox one for my presie. This came complete with Fallout 4 - what a blast ! Ever since Fallout 1 came out this has to be my favourite game series (number 2 is the old Baldurs Gate rpg, and Skyrim number 3))

The weather has also done its best to prevent access to the Shed - the garden is completely waterlogged and just to travel the couple of hundred feet to the end of the garden requires welly boots. All I can say is that us folks in the South seem to have got off lightly compared to those in the north.

Therefore the kitchen table has become my painting space and I am delighted to report that I have finished painting ALL my frostgrave minis.

Ill post up a report on these in the next couple of days once I have done some photos - and Ill be talking about revolution in my painting habits  - more on this soon.

All that is left is the box of cultists to do and then we are done.

However the big news is that I can report that my city is now 90% complete. Just waiting on a few Pegasus hobbies boxes sets to finish off the third board.

I took some photos with the lights on and off in the shed - the off switch photos make the city look far colder !..

Lights off - The nearly finished city....about 4ft x 7ft

??
Some Harry Potter Chess Piece Statues - Some of these are now on sale on ebay

The Chess Pieces make great statues - I bought 12 broken ones off ebay for about £15 - these have now been painted up and I am hoping to recoup some of my expenditure by selling off the ones I dont need. The 28mm Fireforge soldier shows how big they are.

Heres a couple more of these in front of a Pegasus hobbies ruin - This was built using building set 1 and the ruins box set.

These two sets enable me to build this wonderful ruined church, wizards college...whatever

The picture below is the reverse shot of this impressive building.

I also acquired another Building box set 1 and constructed the standard building. The arches can all be taken off to ease storage (or even connected together to create an interesting architectural walkway)

I have gone a bit crazy on these Pegasus buildings and have ordered another big set, another ruin set and another building set 1 to finish off the city with an impressive tower. Sadly building set number 2 appears to be out of production and they are now going for silly money.

Finally I drilled some holes into the plain boards so I could add some trees...coupled with the ruined buildings they look rather good (thanks John for buying these).

So coming up next....

1. Old dogs do learn new tricks - my painting eureka moment

2. The kick off of our Frostgrave campaign

3. The next Shed Wars project - The English Civil War

4. The next blog milestone - 400k hits ! (almost there)

Finally I just wanted to bring to my followers attention a rather interesting You Tube channel I discovered over the Xmas period - if you like terrain this will be up your street. The Terrain Tutor has some very interesting programmes/articles worth a gander at....

You can find him here

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCx_aro8CTHw7ZD5H661hC6Q

If by any chance he reads this or you know him please pass on my thanks - I dont do facebook where he resides and since Shedson is the only one who can work you tube I darent send him a comment on that media.

Finally

A HAPPY and Prosperous New Year to you all

Eric the Shed

Happy 4th Birthday to the Shedwars Blog | Shed design software free download

Happy 4th Birthday to the Shedwars Blog

Happy 4th Birthday to the Shedwars Blog !
Believe it or not this blog has now been running for four years – hasn’t the time has flown by.

In my last birthday post  I set myself the 400 goal – that was to achieve 400 posts, attracting 400 followers and gaining 400,000 hits.

Last years post http://shedwars.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/shed-wars-happy-third-birthday.html

Well how have I fared. The blog post count is in my control and over the last 12 months I have been steadily adding to the tally and I can safely say that post #400 was past last month. So I can tick one of the goals.

The other two are to be frank outside my control. I can only hope that the content is sufficiently appealing and resonates with the audience to achieve the stated goals. As you can see from the table below I have built on both the number of followers and hits to the site.

Based on current run rates I’ll top the 400k hits in January but the number of followers has dried up in the last few months staying static around the 370 mark for the past three months. I shouldn’t complain too much as there has been growth during the year.

I continue to add between 6-8 posts per month and the hit rate now runs around the 12-13k /per month. I appreciate that the stats aren’t perfect but by my reckoning each new post gets about 600 fresh hits and the rest goes towards the historical posts in the blog. This means I am probably getting a large number of new visitors each month but they don’t want to follow.

The objective for next year will be to hit the half million mark for hits and 500 posts – This should be achievable barring any disasters.

So onto the highlights of this year and the chance for me to indulge a bit…

Perhaps the biggest highlight in 2015 has been to play so many wonderful games and share this great hobby with so many people.

A couple of years back the Shed only really had a couple of regular visitors but thanks to this blog and some fortuitous meetings I can now boast a regular weekly gaming group of 6+. It is with sincerest thanks to all those who have frequented the Shed in 2015 and for giving me the opportunity to play with all my toys.

We have played a vast array of games from the deserts of Egypt to the Frosty City of Felstad, from the steamy jungles of Central America to the Docks of Liverpool. So many genres, so many rules and so much fun.

The painting front saw me complete my Armies of the Third Crusade and although they have only been out a couple of times I can now proudly boast two big 28mm armies. Add to this the additional units for my VBCW campaign – Postie Unit and the Naval Units. Plus Daleks, Sikhs and more Arabs

Over 100 Pulp figures painted for my scales of Anubis campaign including the rifle armed Arabs, and more recently I have started painting some fantasy stuff for Frostgrave. Best guess around 800 figures painted this year.

I finished all 200+ Crusaders !

The terrain building keeps going. The year started with my tramp steamer, and onto the docks of Liverpool. Most recently I have been building the boards for my Frostgrave campaign. I am fairly sure I can now feature most standard terrain types in the shed.

Remember the Volcano for the LAF Build something contest? I came fourth !

Tramp Steamer finally finished
Latest project - Frostgrave tables

The Shed Wars message continues to be broadcast to the bigger world – a couple of mentions in the printed press and two published articles in Wargamers Blogger Quarterly.

BLAM, the annual meet of the LAF went without a hitch (phew), and I was fortunate to travel to Tactica early in the year to meet some wonderful people. Add to this trips to Salute, Colours and Warfare my show needs were sated.

2015 has been a great year for the hobby – I hope 2016 is as good

Even the Shed got a lick of paint !

Thank you for following everybody....
